Countdown to Babylon

– MaxQ Productions

March 22, 1990. Canadian ballistics expert Gerald Bull is assassinated outside his apartment in Brussels. His final, unfinished project: a gargantuan ‘supergun’ for Saddam Hussein’s Iraq.

Is it a doomsday weapon or a peaceful satellite launcher? Was Bull a cynical merchant of death or a naive dreamer who made a deal with the devil? And what did he know that made him worth silencing?

A gripping true story from the creators of 2022’s Harry S. Rintoul Award-nominated Murmurs of Earth.

  1. Intriguing look at an enigmatic and controvversial Canadian, Gerald Bull, and reflections on missed opportunities.

  2. This play was tone deaf for the state of the world right now. It was too heavy and the script was sluggish.

  3. I enjoyed this one a lot! I’m interested in learning more about this complex character and moment in Canadian history.

The play makes great use of projections of news reels and various images and videos to move the story forward and to give the audience context. Hats off to the cast for nailing such a complex script! Bravo 🙂
