Best Friends Forever

  • B12 Theatre Productions

From the local company who brought you A is for Anxiety Apples at the 2022 Winnipeg Fringe, B12 Theatre Productions is back and proudly presents Best Friends Forever. This dramedy follows the relationship between two best friends: Kaycee and Ally. Kaycee is going through a hard time in life and is struggling with her mental health. Because of this, the dynamics of Kaycee and Ally’s friendship start to shift, even more so when Kaycee meets a new friend, Dee. This brand new play explores themes of friendship, mental health, and the power in recognizing when someone – or something – is no longer good for you.

Thank you to my mentor and dramaturge, Cory Wojcik.

  1. Once again, Fringe and B12 Theatre Productions have presented incredible talent, in a local setting, with an important and relatable message for all audiences. As many still experience daily, mental health and matters such as anxiety remain taboo in too many social and family circles, however, Best Friends Forever does such a great job of bringing the subject to the forefront in an empathetic and respectful way. Absolutely recommend for anyone looking for fantastic acting, a laugh, perhaps a cry and most importantly, the chance to sit back and reflect on one’s own mental health journey in a safe space.

  2. An amazing and important show that deserves so much recognition! Everything about this piece is very well done. It’s beautifully written and brought both tears and laughter to the audience. The cast members do a wonderful job with their roles and perform extremely well together. Their vulnerability on stage, especially the main character’s, is profoundly moving. Definitely a show you don’t want to miss!

  3. Excellent show! Well written, well acted, and great use of minimal props and lighting. My teenaged daughter and I found it very relatable and moving. Definitely a standout show this year and a must see!

  4. Such a beautifully written, thoughtful, and amazing performance. The cast have such awesome chemistry on stage together, and you’re locked in from start to finish. The cast member who played Kaycee did a fantastic job; her depiction of what it feels to go through drastic changes and experience those emotions was so real and brilliant. I would highly recommend checking this show out before the end of fringe! Congratulations to the cast, crew, and playwright!!

  5. Amazing show, put on by wonderful people. Makes you think of the things others around you could be silently facing. As well it shows how your mental heath effects so much of your life and how it’s so easy to be swept away in your own self hate. But it also shines a light on what can be done to help. All in all a fabulous show.

  6. I enjoyed the show very much. There was a lot to leave you thinking about your own personal experiences with anxiety and while it did have some fun with the obserdity anxiety can bring to one’s life the show boldy went to the edge of how it can consume your life. Well worth your time and attention.

  7. Five stars – an absolutely incredible show! Was lucky enough to see it on opening night and the show is so well done. You will laugh, cry and feel all the feels. It is one of those shows that will stay with you long after the fringe is over. Absolutely recommend 1000%!

  8. It was like watching my life play out on stage. It touched my soul. Kennedy has written such an amazing story that captivates the audience and doesn’t let them go…even long after the show ended. The cast brought those words to life and it was an outstanding performance.

  9. Such a proud big sister right here!
So proud of you Kennedy for killing it on writing this show!! The actors were amazing and sure nailed it! It definitely brought some tears to my eyes! So proud of you Ken xoxo 🩷

  10. Another masterpiece. I’ve seen a previous play by this writer and, as always, she brought the real parts of mental health struggles to life. It’s comforting to feel like I’m not alone and the actors did a wonderful job being relatable and making me feel connected to the story. I loved the ending very much, it was very moving. I feel seen

  11. Such a great show!! Watched it on opening and needed time to really digest this incredible story. Talking about such hard subject matter while still bringing laughter to the audience is no easy feat, yet the writing in this show does both so easily! 10/10 would watch again.

  12. This is a great start to fringe festival!!! The acting was fantastic and the depiction of mental health is accurate and realistic. It is great to see such talent. Bravo to the writers and actors bringing it to life.💯🌟💜

  13. I had anxiety when I was pregnant with my second child and post partum as well. I remember one night in a hotel room noticing one of my baby’s eyes was bigger than the other-I spent about 6 hours with that overnight. this show was incredibly well written-the way I learned to mostly overcome it was by having someone tell me to give the anxiety a personality and a name and it worked really well. After seeing this show, my anxiety that occasionally shows itself might just have a new face to go with it’s personality and name!

  14. This show did a great job of demonstrating some of the darker sides of mental health struggles. I think many people can relate to the experiences of the characters and it is easy to empathize with the emotional scenes while also releasing tension with light humour and heartwarming reminders that we are not alone.

  15. This is one of those rare shows that stays with you long after the curtain falls. You do not want to miss it. It perfectly captured the complexities of mental health in a way that felt deeply authentic and profoundly moving. I found myself laughing one moment and completely breathless the next, frozen (and even forgetting to breathe) from the raw vulnerability unfolding on stage. The original music was beautifully woven into the storytelling. The standing ovation was well deserved and honestly inevitable.

  16. Standing ovation! Had me captivated the entire time. A very beautiful play about a very important topic: mental health. Congratulations to the cast, crew, and especially the writer and director!

  17. Such a beautiful show, with amazing meaning and writing. The ending was so beautiful, it had me sobbing. Definitely recommend seeing best friends forever!

  18. What a great start to my fringe adventures! If you love (and/or hate) your mental health, why not check out a show that has to do with mental health?? Seriously, the acting had me laughing, and on the verge of tears. Awesome job to everyone who worked on this show! (And double praise to the playwright/director… so proud!!)

  19. This was a heart wrenching show the actors were absolutely sublime they played it like it was exactly supposed to be played and it couldn’t be any better, I’m so proud of the director who wrote and directed the whole show. Very much recommend I enjoyed every bit of it.
