Late-in-Life Lesbian

  • Kind Crow Productions

Late-in-Life Lesbian is the award-nominated coming-out story of a comedian who gave up everything to live their best gay life.

Shane Thevenot is a lesbian who went through a 32-year-long straight phase that included such terrifying events as growing up in the woods, surviving the pandemic in Montreal and U-hauling with a man. Directed by Lucy Gervais, Late-in-Life Lesbian is a hilarious, fresh take on the late-bloomer lesbian and non-binary experience. It earned an honourable mention for the English Comedy Award during its world premiere run at the 2024 Montreal Fringe Festival.

“…Thevenot hoped to communicate… that no matter how late you are, it’s never too late to be yourself. And they passed with flying colours.” – Adrienne Roy, CKUT

  1. Shane is passionate, thoughtful, and most importantly, funny! If you’re a fan of Mike Birbiglia, you’ll find this show right up your alley with the comedy storytelling style. Most of all, it’s lovely to see the word “Butch” used loud and proud. Well done.

  2. Shane’s standup show is an immaculately constructed journey, balancing the comedic material with the dark in an incredibly vulnerable and engaging way. I found myself full belly laughing at several times during the show and it left me with a lot to think about. Go see it!

  3. I met Shane late last year through a mutual friend of ours and at the time I got a brief story of their life. I consider this to be the rest of that story and it was a pleasure to be in attendance. Entertaining and informative. A nice mixture of comedic and serious story telling. Shane does an excellent job.

  4. An amazing performance done by Shane. Honest and raw with the perfect amount of humour to keep the audience laughing.
