A roaring ’20s party filled with flappers, frolicking and decadence. Step back in time with this exciting and funny experience. Witness the backstage bootlegging as you enjoy the song and dance numbers at a speakeasy jazz club.
This isn’t just a play, it’s an immersive interdisciplinary experience. From the venue to the costumes to the candy cigarettes, every daring risk taken pulls you deeper into a dreamworld 1920s that truly feels alive. While the best parts are no doubt the incredible song and dance numbers, the story moments also hold their own with good comedic timing and a rambunctious cast of characters. If you want to nitpick for historical accuracy, stay home. If you want to bask in the joy of unbridled creativity, find your way to The Royal Speakeasy!

The disco ball number was stand out. Need her to be a jazz performer if she isn’t already!!
Overall a really fun show. Song and dance numbers `were excellent. They really made good use of the venue. I can only imagine that this show would really soar in a professional theatre. Highly recommend.
There is some genuine talent in this cast. The story was hard to follow, there could have been better direction for sure. Overall it was entertaining and a fun venue.
It was fun to go back in time to a speakeasy, and this show has the perfect venue! I thought the local cast was stacked with talent, from a couple of powerhouse vocalists to some great comedic character performers.
HOLY GUN SAFETY, BATMAN! There was NONE on stage. Throwing around prop guns? Dropping them? WAVING THEM AT THE AUDIENCE? I was terrified. Sour taste in my mouth, director needs to learn, FAST.
Very historically inaccurate, as prohibition ended in 1923 in manitoba. I thought it took place in america (which would make sense given the accents and culture onstage) but they’re in canada? WHERE? WHEN? NOT for lovers of history, but if you want an alternate universe where modern days are still in the 20s, go for it. I got that impression from incorporating Scott Bradley covers, but it was very confusing. Actors were great, the renditions of “Cigarettes and Cigars” and “I Only Have Eyes for You” blew me away. Needlessly sexual as well, especially with the club owner. But, as Vinny put it, “I like that classy stuff”, personally. Bravo to actors.
The dancer in the dark green stole the show, and was criminally underused as an actor. I was wondering why she was the only one with a mic, as her voice seemed to be on par with the rest volume wise. I wish the rest had a mic, or she didn’t, because it felt out of place. Maybe a sore throat? Nerves? Regardless, a great showcase of new talent. I can see the leads on bigger stages or silver screens in the future. Wish the writing was better for them, and there were many plotholes. Why was Lovina mad at Freddie? Why was the Old Ma abandoned? WHAT YEAR IS IT?? Felt like a fever dream, but also, one I wouldn’t mind not waking from :]
This show really does open with a big bang. The opening number is sooooooo well done! Lots of fun song and dance numbers will keep you smiling. Cute background vignettes happening around the venue as the main story takes place in the centre. Complex storyline and a pretty big cast. Well worth the ticket.
I loved this show. It was really funny and I highly enjoyed the song choices. Definitely reccomend!
What a fun show!! All of the actors had so much talent, whether they had amazing comedic timing, beautiful singing voices and/or dancong skills they all made the stage their b**tch. All the actors gave it their all and Lovey’s actor (Jen? I think) was absolutely stand out!!
The stage itself being used at its best, with immersion and things going on on all sides and even IN THE AUDIENCE. (I love popeyes cigarettes too :)) Not only that but the show kept me laughing the whole time.
The Director COOKED, The Actors COOKED, and these performers should be proud of the work theyve done!!
This was the funniest and very possibly the best fringe show I have ever seen. The actors had amazing chemistry and everyone seemed PERFECTLY casted. It was also super interactive and fun
The cast was great! Good chemistry together and the singing and dancing was fantastic. Highly recommend!
Show made great use of the venue. Unfortunately acting left something to be desired. Moments of high tension often lacked emotion and at times I struggled to hear what they were saying. Modern songs being in a 1920s setting is also a choice. Not necessarily the wrong choice, just a choice. I found the show overall mediocre, which is a shame because the premise had potential and the cast obviously has great chemistry off stage.
I really enjoyed the way this show made the venue work. It was full of surprises. Loved the singing, dancing, and Vinnie and Rat were spot on funny!
Such a fun show. Love the music, dance numbers and humour
Amazing show! I loved all of the dances numbers and characters. Shoutout Vinnie and Ratcatcher, they were a really funny duo.
Really fun show. Loved the dancers. Loved the characters. Actors really embraced their roles. A great show overall!
A hilariously immersive show with incredible acting! The costumes were on point, and the soloists were standout, especially Rose, Vinny, Flo and Lovie. Bravo!
Fun show with great songs and dancing, and a wild cast of characters!
