- Meraki Theatre
Say it once, say it twice, say it… okay, you know how this goes.
BugJuice, BugJuice, BugJuice!
Join Meraki Theatre’s all-teenage cast in this musical parody of Beetlejuice, with a few extra legs and a whole lot of fun. Packed with laughs, larger-than-life characters and toe-tapping tunes, it’s a ghostly good time for the living and the not-so-living.
From the team that brought you the completely sold-out run of Midnight (Winnipeg Fringe 2023) and Barbie: A Parody (Winnipeg Fringe 2024) comes a delightful journey through the land of the living, the dead, and everything in between.
Had a great laugh! Great talent throughout!
Such a fun musical to enjoy with family and friends! The actors were great and the singing and songs were amazing for this teen cast. You can tell they are a very close knit group who truly love performing together!! Well done Meraki Theatre!!!
An extremely talented group of young actors.
I see incredible futures in the arts for them.
I have watched 3 shows so far of different cast members and they all bring their own flare to the stage. These kids will go on to do great things. This is a must watch show!!!
Several excellent things wrapped in a tidy little package –
-A great reimagining with some hilarious takes and twists
-A blast of bubbling young talent
-Catchy and comic songs
-A smattering of clever 4th wall breaking and ‘play within the festival of plays’ meta that, frankly, took it from a straightforward enjoyable experience to a more artistic one than I was expecting
Lydia’s voice is a gift, Bug Juice’s ghastly gonzo take on Beetlejuice was a great laugh, good and vibrant and fun
This was really funny! While there were a few jokes I missed because I have not seen Beetlejuice, it was overall quite funny. The actors punched above their weight class in terms of age; they acted quite well and sang very nicely too. To fans of the musical, this is a must-see.
It’s just not very good. The kid who played Bugjuice KILLED however
I went to this show with my boyfriend on Thursday we both really enjoyed it and thought it was super fun, I love beetlejuice and was super impressed by how they were able to take a 2.5 hour show and narrow it down to 45 minutes while still getting the plot across, you could tell the entire cast really enjoyed performing and it was a great show!
Bugjuice was a fun show with a super committed teen cast. I caught this Saturday performance, some voices were stronger than others, but the energy was great and a few standout performers (Delia, Barbra, and Adam specifically really shone). While there were some changes from Beetlejuice, it mostly felt like a shortened, kid-friendly version rather than a full-on parody. Still, the cast clearly had a great time on stage, and that made it fun to watch.
The future of theatre is safe in the hands of these incredible up and coming actors!
Wow – this young drama troupe brings energy and hilarity to this retelling of Beetlejuice. I laughed out loud many times and had a grin on my face for the whole show.
