Take a trip around Manitoba. From the 30,000 foot snow maze near St. Adolphe to the snake dens of Narcisse, this new musical celebrates the quirky highlights of this unique province. After all, where else holds both the unofficial title of Slurpee Capital of the World and the Guinness Record for the most people simultaneously howling like wolves? Deanna Durbin, Terry Jacks and Burton Cummings are among the many homegrown stars, and Hockey Sticks celebrates their music, along with unusual stories and facts about this unforgettable province.

Starring Melanie Gall from 5 STAR shows Piaf & Brel, Ingenue and Toast to Prohibition, and featuring both original songs and hits from Manitoba’s music greats.

  1. Melanie is a beautiful woman with a wonderful voice. She delivers a great tribute to Manitoba in words and song.

  2. unimpressive, uninspired, uninteresting, unnessecary. jokes didnt land, singing was fine yet at times very pitchy. would avoid this show for sure.

  3. A delightful show! Deanna Durbin masterfully blends fascinating Manitoba history with beautiful vocals and engaging storytelling, even adding a fun banjo number. A captivating and memorable performance.

  4. Melanie Gall is always a delight, combining little-known gems from music history with her beautiful classically-trained opera voice. This show is no exception, featuring hilarious stories and songs from or about our beloved keystone province, some of which she wrote herself and showcases alongside her recently- acquired (but still impressive) banjo skills (though, no: as she regretfully informs the audience, she still can’t play ‘Duelling Banjos’ from Deliverance). Most astonishingly for me, however, the show includes a lengthy segment about If Day (1942), with Gall actively plugging my show on the same subject (thanks, Melanie)! Though that coincidence might bias me towards it, this is still a great show with something for everyone.

  5. Melanie Gall has a beautiful voice and a very engaging stage presence. This is well worth seeing!
