- Monster Theatre
Whose side are you on?
New York City. 1849. Rival Shakespearean actors both playing Macbeth in theatres across the street from each other. What follows is the bloodiest theatre riot of all time, with over 30 deaths, the National Guard, a cannon, a dead sheep and thousands of angry rioters.
Real-life brothers Jeff and Ryan Gladstone get to the bottom of why people find it so easy to fight in this brand new Monster Theatre creation.
A part of Monster Theatre’s 25th Anniversary Celebration.
Sometimes truth IS stranger than fiction, which this tale of a deadly riot between fans of rival Shakespearean actors in 1849 New York City clearly demonstrates (people took their theatre SERIOUSLY back in the day!). Told in fascinating and hilarious detail by two talented actors with amazing chemistry and comedic timing (even when they flub up a cue or line), this is a raucous must-see of this year’s Fringe and best enjoyed with a pint of beer and rotten tomato (or in this case, bloody sheep carcass) in your hand!
THAT WAS SO MUCH FUN!!!!!!!!! I Loved almost every second of it. I laughed, cheek hurt smiled, and even shed a tear at the end. There certainly wasn’t a moment that I wasn’t entertained. The brotherhood was an infectious sibling energy that I want bottled to bring to any dispute with a family member. 10/10 will/do recomend.
I’ve loved their other shows but this one just didn’t do it for me. There’s some great parts but it all felt a little disjointed at times. I know they’ll turn it around though.
An incredibly creative and entertaining mixture of an informative true story, a two person play, and a fun meta narrative. Excellent acting and comedic timing are complimented with great physical humor that keeps the audience engaged the entire time. Loved it!
Not great honestly. They tried hard but a lot of the jokes fell flat.
Absolutely hilarious! Laughed till my sides hurt. Go see this show.
Loved it! Ryan Gladstone never disappoints and it was great to have Jeff on stage with him. Great comedic timing. LOL funny! I would highly recommend this play. All their plays have been 5/5 hits.
5/5 stars, was very engaging, the storytellers were excellent and the jokes always hit. Recommend checking this one out.
A comedic RIOT of a show in the best way (pun fully intended) both of the actors were captivating on stage despite a miriad of characters and antics on stage to juggle. I almost had tears in my eyes at times from laughing. Even moments of small error or improv seemed either natural to the show or they made funny enough to frankly not care. Very highly recommended!
