I Absolutely loved this show (as did my sister)! I am an Austen fan, and I have seen both Pride & Prejudice (Jennifer Ehle & Colin Firth version), and Sense & Sensibility (Emma Thompson & Kate Winslet version) enough times to be able to quote the dialogue. I was constantly recognizing snippets throughout the play. Penny’s ability to switch seamlessly between characters, made me almost believe that there was more that one person on stage.
I was so impressed! Penny’s “one woman show” was so well done. So many different characters and she nailed them all. Well done!

I’ve never read Jane Austen and only vaguely know the premise of these types of stories but never mind all that because this show blew me away.
On-the-spot workarounds for wardrobe and audio malfunctions served only to further showcase what a graceful powerhouse the lead is and really only added to my awe of this performance and Penny Ashton’s skills/voice/accents/humor/confidence/energy/commitment to the bit/command of the entire stage/etc./etc./etc.
Go be inspired to live life bigger, be sillier, and let your full range of talents shine.
Or just go laugh.

You don’t have to be a Jane Austen fan to enjoy Promise & Promiscuity! While the show starts slow it rapidly picks up the pace to be a roaring good time! Ashton’s physical comedy is remarkable! Don’t miss this one! 4/5
Every joke landed – incredible humour, character work, and absolutely insane jumping!! This show is musically brilliant, and a complete show by one actor (with a little help from Jane Austen). A must-see.
If you loved reading Pride and Prejudice, you will LOVE this!
Five stars! As much fun as last year’s Tempestuous. After last year’s show, I made sure Penny’s show was the first I went to this year. Her wit and talent make this show just so much fun to watch. The laughs are basically constant, and as an Austen devotee, she has chosen the lines well, and taken the best themes from the best books. How she instantly changes from character to character is amazing to watch. And it is *so funny*. So funny. If time permits I will absolutely see it again.
