Flunked

Ashley Evans

She followed the plan. She got the degree. She failed anyway.

Flunked is a solo storytelling dramedy about academic pressure, family expectations, and what happens when “work hard and you’ll succeed” turns out to be a lie.
With live piano underscoring and dynamic character work, this true story spirals from reluctant engineer to spectacular academic collapse—and through the long, unglamorous rebuild that follows.
Because sometimes the most defining moment of your life…is the one where you don’t show up.
Ashley Evans is a musical director at SAK Comedy Lab and has performed alongside artists including Colin Mochrie and Chase Padgett.
“A very talented musician, among many other things. This lady is dope!” — Chase Padgett (6 Guitars)

  1. This is Ashley Evans’ first Fringe and what an offering! “Flunked” is told with a thoughtful balance of serious and seriously funny. Also, the play is scored by her. She plays the piano to charming and excellent effect, complimenting the moods throughout the story.

  2. We enjoyed this show! The description makes it sound more serious than it is; the story had a good amount of laughs. It was well-written and well-paced, and I loved the use of the piano to help set the mood / add to the drama etc. ( I was impressed to learn she composed all the music herself!) Glad we took a chance on it!
