The Golden Boys

Enigma Performance Company

The Golden Boys follows four wildly different men sharing a small home in Charleswood. All chasing the absurd dream of becoming the next “Golden Boy.”

Blake Dawson, a vain and dramatic self-proclaimed “Call Boy” masks his fear of aging with charm and chaos. Devin Petro, a bitter substitute drama teacher, breaks the fourth wall while questioning his fading career. Sam Petro, blunt and fiercely independent, refuses to be sidelined by age and wants to spend more time with his son, Devin. Ross Nepeta-Tasselflower, a well-meaning but disastrous optimist, stumbles through life with heart.

Together, they confront loneliness, identity, self-worth, and what it means to “be a man” in a city that’s as challenging as it is familiar.

  1. The Golden Girls was on of my grandma’s favorite shows before she passed. Immediately as the soundtrack plays at the top of the show i was brought back to some of my favorite memories of her and watching the show with her in the hospital. Little did i know the show itself would explore loss and grief and family and I was nearly brought to tears.

The actors did a phenomenal job embodying the original characters in this unique gender bent style and I was truly brought into the lives of these four charming men. With a mixture of the original charm of Golden girls, some local humour, and an exploration into the love of friends and family I was truly moved by this piece. Thank you to everyone involved in this masterpiece. Absolutely a must see.
