Mother’s Secret introduces us to two daughters who conspire to move their elderly mother into an assisted living facility but discover that her past is full of mystery and intrigue.
This is a good natured, benign comedy about a mother’s secret life and how her two daughters’ deal with it, and the lengths they go through to uncover it.
The performances are campy in parts, sure, but they are sincere and the dialogue and those performances elicit laughs.
The set is minimal, in true Fringe fashion, and evoke a few chuckles as well.
They have one show left, an afternoon show at 2:45, Sunday July 26.
Do yourself a favour and go see “Mother’s Secret.” It’s fun, it’s camp, you’ll walk out smiling.
A fun silly show! The characterization put on by the actors are funny and they play off each other incredibly well! Do not pay the Free Press Review any attention they are completely wrong. While I felt the ending was a little underwhelming it did not take away from the fun. The critic commented on suspense being missing but this show in no way advertised as being suspenseful?? Its exactly as fun and silly as its presented itself to be. There’s also no ageism that is a poor taste comment from the critic. The humor on eldery people with technology is no different from what’s found in other media, is not presented disrespectfully and is not entirely inaccurate as I can attest from my own grandparents (who I love dearly) and the audiences laugher through the whole show proves that critic wrong itself! Go see this silly fun show, laugh, and support local theatre!
Broken Record Productions does it again! Another fantastic Fringe show highlighting phenomenal local talent. From the stage direction to music and lighting – every thing was spot on! Had the audience engaged and laughing for the entire performance. Bravo to everyone involved in this production!
A wonderfully silly show that kept the plot rolling. The actors were having fun, and the audience was too. A good light comedy, well executed.
The Free Press got it wrong with this one. It’s a Fringe show! Not all theatre has to be ground breaking and life changing. Sometimes it can simply be entertaining and a bit of fun. Mother’s Secret was a fun, entertaining show. The comedic timing of the actors was perfection. Also, the references to how different generations handle technology was respectful and cute and accurate. Go see this show! It’s a good bit of fun!
The free press is complete BS once again. The actors were phenomenal and the writing is GENUIS. Jo’s comedy never fails to make an audience laugh and truly goes to show that lewd and degrading humour is NOT necessary for a good time.
