(dad) stuff

Rod Peter Jr

From the producer of Iago vs. Hamlet (5 STARS) and Escape from Winnipeg (5 STARS, X22 Pick of the Fringe winner) comes an all-new one-man comedy about DADS.

Rod has always wanted to be a dad. But what happens when doctors tell him this may never happen? A true story about his relationship with his dad and the bizarre current situation of trying to become a dad himself.
“Peter’s physical comedy is infectious” – Global News, Edmonton
“The most memorable comic performance I’ve ever seen” – CBC Radio

  1. Rod pours everything out. What he shares is so personal and real you feel like he’s made you into a close friend, who probably needs therapy to be able to be as open and raw as he is. When I say I cried – twice – and that this is one of the best one-hour shows I have ever seen there is no hyperbole.

  2. An absolute powerbomb to your emotional core, cleverly surrounded by some of the biggest laughs at this years, or any years, festival. Rod Peter JR is one of the greats and no fooling.

  3. My favorite show of the fringe so far (I’ve seen 5). David here said it best, “Laughed till I cried. And then I cried.” This show has it all: hilarious jokes, interesting social commentary, heartbreaking personal stories, touching and beautiful and courageous performances from a wonderful human. can’t recommend it enough!

  4. I’ve seen shows that have talked about motherhood and fatherhood but not in this way. And I’ve never seen someone talk about fertility issues in such a raw way. I was floored by the stats on fertility problems.

  5. We loved this show. Every year we make sure to see Rod Peter Jr and his shows. In the past they were always two person shows often with shadow puppets. But pleasantly surprised with this barebones solo outing.
I’m not sure I’ve seen my boyfriend laugh that hard. And by the end of the show I was in tears.
A well deserved stand ovation from the audience that night.
