TJ Dawe
Fringe fave TJ Dawe (The Slipknot, Medicine, Blueberries Are Assholes) returns, riffing on TV commercials from the 1980s, a decade when everything was excellent, choice, and unintentionally, hopelessly bizarre. Expect pastel colours, zippy computer graphics, and jingles that’ll stay in your brain for weeks.
“This guy’s headed for the stand-up hall of fame” — the Georgia Straight.
“Dawe can actually make you hurt with laughter” — Montreal Gazette
“A flawless performer” — Charleston City Paper
“Come and see what a real virtuoso can do” — Edmonton Journal.
Even though I and the people I brought were not children in the 80s, we still were laughing and having a good time just as anyone else!
See it if you’re able!
Enjoyed the trip down memory lane.
This was a fun show – the videos had me remembering commercials I didn’t know I knew! Interesting reflections on how we see the good ol’ days … and what our recollections of today might be like in the future.
Super fun, but watch out – I saw this a few days ago and the jingles are still in my head!
A fun trip down memory lane for all the Gen Xers. A niche show but IYKYK. TJ is a Fringe fave for good reason.
If you were a child of the 1980’s, this will hit home. TJ is a great performer and this was a fun show to attend.
Was expecting better from TJ…..just OK…2 1/2 stars.
So glad to get to see TJ at the Fringe. Great show. Laughed ’til I cried. A must-see for anyone (especially kids) who watched TV in the 80s.
Intriguing messaging of 80’s commercial. Awesome show down memory lane.
