What is love? You’re born, you grow up, you hopefully fall in love, and things go from there. However, sometimes what you think is your one true love just doesn’t work out.
From the creator of 2025’s EGGSHELLS comes a tale of trying to find what’s next, attempting to solve life’s great mystery of trying to date in your 40s after divorce, and ultimately figuring out if there really is true love after all.
Relatable, funny and absolutely adorable!
Joel’s show was relatable, funny, and deeply thought provoking. I found myself smiling as I listened to his stories, reminiscing about both past and present relationships. It’s funny and a little strange how we can recognize people we’ve known in people we’ve never met. We find them in the stories others tell, and sometimes even catch glimpses of them in the storytellers themselves.
I loved walking down Joel’s memory lane while, at the same time, wandering through my own. Even in its moments of heartbreak, the show felt refreshing, honest, and beautifully human. It has a way of staying with you long after it’s over, gently returning to your thoughts from time to time. It’s the kind of performance that reminds you how connected our experiences really are.
Such a relatable topic by this master storyteller. He did a great job of holding up a mirror to the audience.
An hour flew by while I was sucked into his life and the ups and downs he has faced.
I absolutely loved this performance! Had moments of humour and really hit home on every level!
My first time seeing a show at The Fringe. I found Joel brutally honest about his experiences in the dating world after divorce. There was humour and laughter and stories most of us could relate to when it came to the whole world of on line dating. I had a good time and enjoyed the show. And I thought it was really fun how all his props fit together to end the show. I recommend if you’ve ever looked for love in weird places!
For the second year, Joel invites us into his world in a way that feels incredibly personal, yet somehow familiar. His charm carries the show, while his vulnerability gives it depth. It takes a ton of courage to revisit the moments that shaped us, to laugh at them, learn from them, and ultimately share them with a room full of people.
I ended up seeing this show as a date and recommend you try it too! You may leave with more than just a great theatre experience—you might find yourself having some surprisingly meaningful conversations!
Here’s hoping Joel keeps his Fringe career thriving and we get to see what he brings to the stage in 2027!
Joel knows how to keep his audience locked-in.
His one-man performance of love will have something for everyone in it as we all love someone (romantically or not), and you will walk away with the message of “what is love to YOU?”
Side-note: Lights and music choices are super nice! Good job to the “mysterious” lighting/sound/SM person! XD
Went to the fringe for the first time last night didn’t know what to expect. A friend asked me to join her at one of the shows. I’m so glad I did. The show was excellent. The story was real. There was a lot of humour and everyone could relate. now seeing the show I realize what the fringe is about and I will definitely go back and see more shows. Thank you to Joel Passante for a wonderful evening. He kept my attention and made me laugh. Now I will definitely go see other shows. I hope they are just as great as this one.
Such a lovely show! Highly recommend especially if you fall into one of these categories: awkward, have had your heart broken, and/or you are a human. Joel immerses you into his journey of dating after divorce and keeps you interested with his humour and charm. I quite enjoyed his use of prop. As someone who has also had to see what’s out there using dating apps… it is very relatable. A must see!
Once again Joel’s ability to make fun of everyday events.His timing was terrific and I had a lot of laughs along the way.His mannerisms and facial expressions made me smile throughout the entire performance.Doesn’t matter how old you are at some point you will be able to identify the trials and tribulations of finding Love. For a fun “date” check this one out
I watched Joel’s show today (Sun July 19th) and I did not know what to expect going in but it turned out to be really funny and relatable. Maybe it’s because we are of the same age; but the dating stories, 90’s internet related jokes (ICQ), modern “dating” apps, were all nostalgic memories from my past. I highly recommend it, especially if you are aged 35 and over!
I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from this one. We’ve all seen the storyteller who bleeds their heart all over the stage. And not always in a good way.
But Joel Passante brings the pathos, the comedy, the apprehension, the online ghosts – all of it.
His story is real. Joel is charming, authentic, and so so relatable.
I loved this show for all the right reasons. You will too, I promise.

Joel Passante takes the audience on his own personal journey through the pitfalls of discovering the meaning of true love, through turns both sad, amusing, and infinitely relatable. The hour just flies by and leaves you wanting more, thanks to Joel’s likeability and honesty as a storyteller. Go and see this charming show; you’ll be glad you did…and learn the importance of the “C” word (not what you think!).
