House of Gold: The Musical

Brighter Dark Theatre

The family of late country music legend John Gold have gathered for the birthday of his identical grandson, Jimmy Gold. They’re hoping he has the talent to bring them back their family fortune. It’s almost like he was…made for it. But if he’s not up to the task, what is his life really worth?
Dysfunctional family, folk country music and a mad scientist, all in this new musical adapted from the hit 2024 play (5 STARS — Winnipeg Free Press).

  1. This show is a must-see! I loved it so much. The cast & story are hilarious, the music is so much fun, and time flies when you’re watching the show. They’ve got a house band, live singing, some funny ad libbing, and great jokes. Go see it! Go see it! Go see it! I give it two enthusiastic thumbs up!

  2. Great show! Very slap stick! The music was super good and clever! The characters are wild! Lol If you want just a fun, musically enjoyable show, come on down!! 🎉

  3. Went last night and had SO much fun!! I was in fits of laughter throughout the whole show.
Comedic timing from these actors is unmatched, as is their vocal talent.
Silly and smart in every way, clever writing, packed with fast paced satirical dark humour, this is definitely a gem of the 2026 Fringe.

  4. This play was a full 5 star. I was up I was down I was laughing round the town. It’s a recommend to anyone who wants to giggle. The adlibbing added to the performance. The lead character of Jimmy John Gold had such a natural disposition on stage, I felt his performance was SNL cast quality. Dr Bevelaqua is the funniest name for a doctor character I was even laughing at that. And his performance and singing was also excellent. Loved all the characters. Well done to all in it. And to all out of it, GO SEE THIS PLAY/MUSICAL.

  5. This show was like eating a slow cooked beef and cheese sandwichwith baguette slices as the bread. Crisp, thick and soft 🥖🥩🧀🥖

  6. This was probably one of my favourite shows of the festival (shoutout also to “East of Berlin” and “Ghost of a Flea”).
What an entertaining show and fantastic performances from the entire ensemble cast. The production was top notch, the singing was well done and a great, all-round fun show. Would definitely give it 4.5/5 stars. I would not miss this one!

  7. House of Gold is a hilarious, fast-paced musical that delivers nonstop entertainment from beginning to end. The entire cast showcases impeccable comedic timing, keeping the audience laughing throughout, while their vocals bring every musical number to life.

Packed with humor, this production has everything you could want in a comedy musical. It’s an unforgettable show that’s guaranteed to leave you smiling.

  8. I didn’t catch the play 2 years back but I certainly did not need too because this was awesome all on its own!
Really funny bits and bobs and definitely your lovely “no one knows their in a musical except for this ONE character!”

    Super entertaining, check it out!

  9. Great shenanigans! Loved the show and the actors were all good in their roles. The only problem we encountered was technical because we couldn’t always hear what the actors were saying/singing especially Jimmy’s mother whose mic didn’t seem to work at all. We missed some good jokes because of that.
