The Naked Mennonite: Genesis

Real Live Entertainment

The origins of everything is a deep and mysterious question. Unless you’re a Biblical literalist. Then it was all settled a few thousand years ago in the Middle East.
Join me as I dive into the wild, chaotic stories of Genesis from the perspective that every word is “God-breathed” and cannot be wrong. Creation, curses, authoritarianism, and yes, an alarming number of foreskins all get examined.
Let’s discover how these stories still shape what our members of our community think about authority, gender and power today. And maybe along the way, we’ll understand the world we find ourselves in today a little bit better.

  1. Amazing show! Great actor! Funny smart political! Great audience participation! Will see next year also! Tho next year let’s see if we can see the FULL The Naked Mennonite. And we just say to that JUST HAVE FAITH!

  2. I saw him a couple years ago at the Fringe, and this year’s show is quite a bit different. It’s less of a heartfelt story and more of a cathartic rant about the absurdities of the book of Genesis. I did find it a lot more “gloves off” than the show I saw a couple years ago with him, but that might alienate some people who felt his earlier work was more kind to people of faith.

That’s not to say I didn’t enjoy it, and I even learned a few new things from it. I would absolutely see him again but I do want to see more of his serious side in the future.

  3. I’m happy this was my first experience with the book of genesis!!! So fun, loved that he touched on some interesting Manitoba church facts as well. Such a fun show!

  4. So great and hilarious! Felt seen and heard! Scratched that religious trauma itch for sure.

  5. An interesting reading of Genesis with some… flare.

Took a chance with this show and ended up enjoying it.

  6. Really funny show! Relived religious trauma in an interesting medium, definitely recommend to see his work!
