A One Human Being, Potentially Comedic Performance of Toy Story…if it was a Musical

Living the Dream

To infinity and beyond! Local high-school drama teacher Alli Perlov brings a brand-new show combining her love of nostalgia, frenetic costume changes and musical theatre parody.
Can she sing? Not really. Can she act? That’s debatable. Will you laugh? Oh…probably.
Perlov plays all of your favourite toys, from cowboy to space ranger to potato head, in a comedic exploration of the 1995 animated film Toy Story. Through witty commentary and unstoppable energy, Perlov aims to improve the beloved story by making it a musical, with over 15 parodies of Broadway songs.

  1. I ran into the venue at the last possible moment, sat in the worst seat in the room, and had an ear to ear smile for the entire hour while watching one of the most energetic, highly committed performances I’ve ever seen. 10/10

  2. We were yet again swept away by the amazing and relentless performance by Alli! Last year, Beauty and the Beast was a blast and this time she managed to etch the loving tale of Toy Story deep within our hearts.

Her comedic wit, and audience engaging show(woman)ship is an outstanding accomplishment!

The foundation that keeps it altogether is her impeccable humility in accepting every fault or shortcoming during the performance and including them as part of a truly flawless show!

Can’t wait to find out what she has in store for next year!

  3. This was a complete masterclass piece of theatre. Hilarious, heartwarming and full of catchy Broadway parodies that would make Weird Al shed a tear. If you are a fan of Broadway, of Disney, or frankly just of humanity, you will love this show.

  4. Absolutely phenomenal job!
Toy Story has been one of my favourite franchises since I was a wee little lad, and this show brought out the kid in me. Tons of musical references while hitting story beats perfectly from the movie, and to do this as one person is stupendous. A must see!!!

  5. Words won’t describe the genuine amazingness of this most definitely comedic performance, and it is by far my favorite Fringe show ! 6. Everything about this show is enjoyable, the 90’s nostalgia, clever song parodies from all your favourite musicals, lightning quick costume changes, with just the right amount of non-risky audience participation. This show’s success is a clear demonstration of Alli’s consistent hard work throughout the years as a passionate performer, and an ability to adjust and modify while keeping the audience invested into the show as if her success was our success. Very fun! I wish it were longer, and her water bottle was bigger! Lol!
    Thanks for the fun evening!

  7. This show had me laughing aloud the whole time! Alli’s charisma and energy is unmatched. A very impressive production. Bring everyone you can, I guarantee they’ll have a great time!

  8. This was one of the most delightful and entertaining hours I’ve ever had at a Fringe show. It’s musical, it’s colourful, it’s HILARIOUS, and you can’t help but fall more in love with Alli from one (impressively creative) song parody to the next! Il

  9. Alli is a loveable, unstoppable force of performance! You’ve never seen someone pour their being into a show like she does. So much fun, LOTS of laughs, and then some actual moments of, “Oh dang, am i actually feeling something in my heart through the power of song parody!?”

  10. This is my favorite show I’ve ever seen. A hysterical trip through the story of Toy Story with singing and dancing and drama! If you’re looking for something fun and family friendly this is the show for you!

  11. There were so many different elements of creativity to this show — from the parodying of iconic musical songs, to giving extra screentime and depth to the side characters, to the countless costume changes, and the many hilarious audience participation moments — that I cannot recommend this show enough! I got the honour of being selected to join Alli Perlov on stage for a brief scene, and it was a wonderful experience. Definitely come see this show if you’re looking for a fun, laughter-filled time!
