It was so refreshing and deeply encouraging to see our culture highlighted on that stage. You gave us something truly special to cheer for at the festival this year. Also, I have to give a huge shoutout to the sound design, the music choices were absolutely top-notch and captured the true essence and pulse of Nigerian life.

Dialogue that felt unbelievably natural, dancing that flowed beautifully and each and every outfit was a colourful, expressive, feast for the eyes. It was an amazing show that had so much heart put into it.
Love the show, very well done , I wish there was more to it it felt like it was rushed I need more parts. Loved the old lady and the young lady’s scene haha reminded me of Nolly wood back in the days. Hope the sky rocket amazing cast as well did. I did wish the lead character made a choice it would’ve made me more at peace

An unforgettable show and possible one of my faves at the fringe…
From the very beginning of the show, we were introduced to such a charming and sweet guy who welcomed the audience. His character was the dad that expressed tough love his daughter, the protagonist, but he was the perfect actor for that and made the character someone we as an audience could sympathize with.
Not to mention, that guy’s opening set the tone for the treat we were all in for! Every scene had actors with beautifully distinct energy, and the clever dialogue was delivered perfectly, and not a single joke seemed to go over my head. Very punchy lines that went from witty to poetic in moments.
I suppose two things I noticed was the mics were occasionally spotty at the beginning of scenes (Though what can you do? I just was disappointed for like two seconds because I wanted to hear all the contents of the script, but you can’t have it all!) and occasionally I wished the actors would plant their feet during scenes. (Ex., wandering around while talking).
However, both were minor things and the actors had purposeful facial expressions, body language, and everything else!
The singing was gorgeous, dancing looked groovy, and there was strong symbolism and/or energy in each musical number. You can tell this show was done with a lot of care and this seemingly sweet and charismatic cast held it together perfectly, no one was pulling more weight then the other.
(Forgive me I was not using character names because I’m forgetful and I know I will probably butcher the spelling, as I did not have a program to refer to)
This show was like a beef samosa… crispy light surface, with a meaty full centre. Oh don’t forget the sweet and spicy sauce for the side!!

This made my day ❤️ I laughed till my tummy hurt. It’s such a rich storyline and the costume + stage setup is such a colorful display of the African culture. I loved it 🥰
Black butterfly was such a wonderful play. The cast really brought their A game and the storyline was very interesting and funny. Looking forward to seeing it again
Love love love. Words cannot express how much I loved this show. The actors , the scenes, the dancing, the music, the story line just muah, I need a whole season atp there needs to be more to the storyyyy
Amazing story brought to life by an incredible and talented cast. I would love to see the show and hope they bring it to Neptune Theatre in Halifax. More people deserve to experience it.
Stunning! So well done, great acting, storyline, background. Will go watch it again with my teens.
