Woman’s Move
In 2020, during the COVID lockdown, I made my solo show The Sensemaker temporarily available online. The video quickly became highly sought-after in certain corners of the internet – all because of the five minutes of nudity it contains. Years later, I’m still having to take it down from various adult forums where it keeps resurfacing without my consent.
Embarrassed Naked Female (this show contains nudity) is a lecture-performance built like a forensic thriller: a deep dive into the rabbit hole of internet communities and my bizarre encounters with the men in them.
There is power in watching without being seen. I don’t think they expected me to watch them back.
This award-winning show is a darkly humorous investigation into consent in the digital age.
Fringe at its best. Heartbreaking, yet empowering, nauseating, yet liberating. Elsa’s journey to reclaim her right to consent, when confronted with the darker corners of the internet was harrowing and hilarious in equal parts.
An absolute must watch that lead to multiple hours of conversation surrounding the socialization of men and how these dark corners of the internet can concentrate such predatory philosophies.
Elsa, I’m sorry for the situation, but grateful that you’ve used your platform to discuss difficult yet necessary topics like these.

what a fantastic show to end Fringe on. funny and deeply interesting. this show asks and answers a lot of questions about its subject matter in a way that keeps you captivated the entire time. Elsa is a powerhouse of a narrator and storyteller; the staging and venue was reminiscent of a professor’s lecture, a great way to frame Elsa and the audience. loved this one
A must see ! It’s funny and at the same time I felt anger at these men who exploited a small portion of her performance, but what a woman taking back her power ! She told her story with some laugh out loud humour. Well done Elsa !

One of my favourite shows of the festival. I found myself welling up with angry tears at the injustice faced by Elsa in her Sisyphean task to get her videos removed from the darkest corners of the internet. But at the same time, the show is hilarious, and the finale will have you in stitches.
When asked if we, the audience, believed she should have expected this for daring to put her naked body on the internet – on her own terms, in the context of her art – I noticed two hands stayed up. I hope those patrons left the theatre with a new understanding and empathy for bodily autonomy in the age of pornographic piracy.
You were intrigued by the promise of nudity (maybe?), and you stayed for the rollercoaster ride of nausea inducing emotions you experienced.
Elsa perfectly invokes in her audience many uncontrollable bouts of laughter, jaw dropping moments of total disbelief, and an overwhelming disdain for the internet.
There’s a chance early on to vacate if you’re uncomfortable by the literal and metaphorical depictions of live female nudity, but those who see it through are met with a beautifully crafted ending that lives up to the shows name (and content warnings.)
WOW. This is probably the best show I’ve seen so far this year at fringe. The vulnerability and ferocity of Elsa to be able to not only tell her story, but to also take control of it is amazing. Really well put together. Mixes honest experience with humour in a captivating way. I was so invested. SEE THIS SHOW
This is a MUST see. Witnessing the power and resilience of Elsa Couvreur was emotional and a gift to the audience. I’m grateful Elsa keeps making smart and entertaining art that makes us think. I will be thinking about this show forever. Glad to have people like you in the world! Thank you Elsa!
Fantastic show! Elsa takes us into a particular Internet subculture in a personal way. The kind of show that leaves you thinking, in the best kind of way. Put it on your must see list.
