Generic Male: Just What We Need Another Show About Men

– PUSH Physical Theatre

The Generic Males’ multi-award winning Off-Broadway show returns to the Winnipeg Fringe to give us just what we need: another goddamn show about men. It’s fathers and sons, it’s war and death. It takes us into the beating heart of the failing patriarchy as it descends into acrobatic absurdity.

Described by The Orlando Weekly as “Cirque du Soleil meets Samuel Beckett with a dash a Monty Python”. Are we watching a couple of petty idiots or is this the most insightful piece of theatre of the 21st century? … No.
You’ll laugh out loud, you’ll shed a few tears. Or you’ll bury those feeling deep inside and never speak of them again. Ugh…men.

  1. This show was not what I expected and wasn’t really on my radar, but in true Fringe spirit – I went because it fit the time slot I had available. I was blown away. The performance was both funny and heartwrenching. It’s a physically beautiful show that everyone should see.

  2. I agree with TN’s comment “I did not expect the incredible, athletic, seamlessly fluid contemporary movement intertwined with parts of the narrative.
Absolutely 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟”. This really moved me more than any dance has in the past. The dying scene brought me to tears, the finale was more beautiful than words. Watch with an open heart. ❤️

  3. I was expecting verbal and physical humour, which was well delivered and fun, but did not expect the incredible, athletic, seamlessly fluid contemporary movement intertwined with parts of the narrative.
    Absolutely 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

  4. Wow! I wasn’t expecting such a range of emotions- incredibly hilarious, heartwarming, emotional, real human experiences. These guys have such an incredible physical performance. I am so glad I got to experience this. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
